Lightning's Drouin sent to AHL for conditioning stint

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin was reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League for a conditioning assignment on Thursday, the Lightning announced.
Tampa Bay - October 16, 2014 - Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin was reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League for a conditioning assignment on Thursday, the Lightning announced.
Drouin sustained a fracture in his right thumb last month and has missed the Lightning's first four games.
"Obviously I didn't play one game, preseason or anything," Drouin said Thursday according to the Tampa Bay Times. "It's going to be kind of my preseason a little bit down there. I'll come back when they want me to. I don't know if it's going to be two weeks or shorter than that. Hopefully soon."
The 19-year-old will remain in Syracuse for a maximum of two weeks, and is expected to be in the lineup Friday at home against the Springfield Falcons. The Lightning reported that Drouin's thumb is healed and he has been skating during portions of practices, but the rehab assignment was necessary for Drouin to get his timing back.
