Kitchener - July 4, 2013 - Kitchener Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott has announced that the team has selected Russian defenceman Dmitry Sergeyev with its first round pick (23rd overall) in the 2013 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Described by Rangers Director of Scouting Murray Hiebert as hardworking, shut-down defenceman with an aggressive style of play, Sergeyev spent last season in Russia with Traktor Chelyabinsk. He also won a silver medal with Team Russia at the 2013 Under 17 World Hockey Challenge in Quebec, where he recorded one assist and 24 penalty minutes in six games played.
