Cornwall - July 12, 2013 - The NHL has unveiled their list of who to watch in next year’s entry draft. Joining the cast of talent in the North American group from the WHL, OHL and QMJHL are three players from the Kingston Frontenacs.

Christ Edwards who is a part of Central Scouting picked left winger Samuel Bennett, right winger Spencer Watson and defenseman, Roland McKeown. Edwards also gave Kingston high regards telling NHL.com that they could be next year’s Halifax; alluding to number 1 pick Nathan MacKinnon and number 3 pick Jonathan Drouin.

With his first year in the OHL, Mckeown tallied 29 points in 61 games. At 6’1”, the right handed blue liner is a force to be reckoned with. McKeown, along with Bennett, were named to Team Canada’s U18 team to took part in a tournament in Sochi, Russia back in April. Bennett is also coming off his first OHL season, notching 40 points in 60 games.

Spencer Watson is another candidate the NHL is keeping an eye on. Another new player to the league, Watson played 63 games and amassed 43 points earning him the 4th spot on the team’s scoring list. A native of London, Ontario, Watson was drafted 24th overall in the 2nd round of the 2012 OHL Priority draft. He has also seen Team Canada action as well as he was named to the U17 team.

I’ll be keeping an eye on these three for this upcoming season. The 2014 NHL Entry Draft will take place June 27-28 at the Wells Fargo Center; home of the Philadelphia Flyers.
