London - August 8, 2012 - There was some Olympic magic on the water at Eton Dorney Wednesday morning as Adam van Koeverden and Mark Oldershaw bolstered Canada’s medal count to 13.

In the men’s K-1 1,000m, van Koeverden held on to add a second silver medal to his Olympic resume which also includes a gold and bronze. Though he wanted the gold, the two-time flag bearer for Canada said he “can find the silver lining in silver”.

“Overall I am happy with my race,” said the Oakville native. “I feel like my race plan went well. I was looking for a good finish.”

Moments later van Koeverden’s good friend Mark Oldershaw put in a hard push during the last 250m of his C-1 1,000m race to earn his right on the Olympic podium, with a bronze.

“I’m just so happy, I don’t know what to say,” said Oldershaw. “Thanks so much to everybody.”
