Lakeshore - Mar. 7, 2020:
Some areas in Lakeshore along Lake St. Clair are experiencing flooding from the elevated lake levels and strong north winds. Waves are overtopping breakwalls in some areas. Lakeshore crews are erecting barricades, monitoring all pumps and drains and patrolling the area.

Residents are reminded that Lakeshore offers free sandbags and sand to residents living on the water. Residents can attend the Atlas Tube Centre with identification to obtain up to 100 sandbags.

Sand is available at the following locations:
• 304 Rourke Line (former Belle River Arena)
• Lighthouse Cove Lion’s Park
• Golfview Waterfront Parkette
• Gracey Sideroad at Lakeshore Road 301

Additional Sand and 30,000 sandbags are expected to be delivered on Monday March 9. In 2019, Lakeshore provided over 80,000 sandbags to residents at no cost.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority recently issued a Flood Watch statement regarding strong winds primarily from the north potentially affecting the Lake St. Clair shoreline in Lakeshore. Winds are anticipated to slow down around 8 pm which will permit the water to subside.

Residents with properties that back onto watercourses and the river are encouraged to secure their properties and remove any items that could be damaged by flooding or get loose and become floating debris. Lakeshore appreciates the assistance of residents to ensure that catch basins and other drainage works are free of debris and can function properly.
