    The 8 Week Challenge - It’s Not A Diet
Today’s column comes with a disclaimer. It’s not for the faint of heart. To my family, friends and associates, the following may be quite shocking to all of you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I haven’t had a coffee in over a week. Or French fries. Or pizza. Or a lot of things I used to eat and drink. Why? Because along with ten of my colleagues at DJ Galvanizing, and our spouses, I began a program called the 8 Week Challenge.

Windsor - May 7, 2015 - Today’s column comes with a disclaimer. It’s not for the faint of heart. To my family, friends and associates, the following may be quite shocking to all of you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I haven’t had a coffee in over a week. Or French fries. Or pizza. Or a lot of things I used to eat and drink.

Why? Because along with ten of my colleagues at DJ Galvanizing, and our spouses, I began a program called the “8 Week Challenge”. Started by friends and business partners Briar Krieger and Bonnie Giampa, the challenge is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. And that’s how they promote it. After watching their Youtube videos and doing a little research, I decided to go for it. It’s a common sense approach to living right, and while we all know that eating better and exercising regularly is good for you, there was something in their presentation that made me think the 8 Week Challenge would be worth a try. So I signed up and eagerly awaited the arrival of my welcome package.

When the DVDs arrived, my wife and I sat down and were taken on a trip to the grocery store. Briar and Bonnie took us step by step through the idea of the challenge, and provided a wealth of information about nutrition and exercise. Armed with our new found knowledge we headed for groceries. Fast forwarding to ten days later, we can already see and feel the difference. Believe me when I tell you that it feels good. And the food we’re eating is good too. Don’t think it’s all cardboard and rice cakes. Far from it! The meals we’re making have been delicious, and we actually look forward to planning new recipes for dinner time. Snacking has been great too, thanks to all of the ideas Bonnie e-mails to us. And if you’re thinking that you can’t go out for dinner you’re wrong. Bonnie and Briar have a list of great restaurants that have Challenge friendly meals.

Check out www.8weekchallenge.com and you can also find Briar and Bonnie on Youtube. It’s going to be a great 56 days. Stay tuned; I’ll keep you posted on our progress at the halfway point.

TC out.
