Scotiabank is proud to provide exciting experiences like the NHL Alumni Tour for hockey fans in our community. As Canada's Hockey Bank, Scotiabank has seen first hand, the love that Canadians have for this game. Through this Tour, the NHL Alumni and Scotiabank are able to support an event that raises much-needed funding and awareness for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.

All funds raised through Torch Run events are aimed at programs that directly support and affect all community-based Special Olympics programs. Funds are channeled into community programs, assisting with a variety of expenses including games travel, accommodation, meals, staff support, grants to new community programs, athlete training, public education, volunteer/coach training and development initiatives like school programs (which opens up opportunities to new younger athletes).

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run (www.torchrunontario.com) is a community based, province-wide event that sees the "Flame of Hope" being carried right across Ontario by members of Law Enforcement Agencies. The objective of this and other events is to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics movement in Ontario.

The NHL Alumni (www.nhlalumni.net) is a non-profit organization, which serves as a liaison for 28 local alumni groups. The Association has adopted the motto of "Hockey's Greatest Family", providing programs and assistance for all retired NHL players, including career transition with the Life After Hockey Program.
