Lauzon pleased to vote in favour of the Ending the Long-Gun Registry Act

On November 1st, Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas- South Glengarry was pleased to vote for the Ending the Long-Gun Registry Act in the House of Commons. Since elected in 2004, I have received many emails, letters and phone calls from constituents asking for the elimination of the registry.

Ottawa - Nov. 3, 2011 - On November 1st, Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas- South Glengarry was pleased to vote for the Ending the Long-Gun Registry Act in the House of Commons.

“I was thrilled to stand up for the constituents of SD & SG on Tuesday night to vote for the elimination of the long-gun registry,” said Lauzon, “since elected in 2004, I have received many emails, letters and phone calls from constituents asking for the elimination of the registry.”

The introduction of this legislation is consistent with the Government’s efforts to ensure our firearms laws target real criminals and protect the safety of the public. We are investing in a number of effective measures such as putting more police on our streets, fighting organized crime, introducing mandatory minimum penalties for serious gun crime and combating gun smuggling.

“After 17 years of wasting $2 Billion of taxpayer dollars, I am pleased to see this registry finally coming to an end,” said Lauzon, “instead of unfairly targeting law-abiding farmers and duck hunters, I believe this money should be used to crack down on real criminals.”
