Toronto - Oct. 25, 2011 - Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak appointed Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry as the Ontario PC Critic for Consumer Services - a valuable role on an Ontario PC team that is focused on bringing forward new ideas on job creation and getting the McGuinty government’s spending crisis under control.

Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry families have entrusted Jim McDonell Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak, and their colleagues to keep Dalton McGuinty on a short leash, and to change the direction Ontario is headed in. Jim McDonell said he was humbled by the appointment, and eager to get to work deliver the change families have asked for after eight years of Dalton McGuinty.

While Dalton McGuinty chose the same ministers for his Cabinet that drove up government spending, doubled Ontario’s debt and increased the deficit at a time when other economies are reducing them - Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Cabinet will focus like a laser on new initiatives and new ideas to once again make Ontario the economic leader in Canada.

“This appointment will allow me to address the issues that matter most to the residents of Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry, as well as those of the Province of Ontario," said Jim McDonell, MPP.

“Families want a change in direction to create jobs and rein in government spending before it is too late. With Jim McDonell as our next Critic for Consumer Services, Ontario families know they’ll have an Opposition Critic ready and able to hold Dalton McGuinty to account, and get government focused on what matters most - job creation and responsible spending,” said Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader.
