Cornwall - Oct. 6, 2011 - After achieving our best traffic numbers in the month of August, even more of you visited our site in September. The month of September saw site traffic grow by another 7.2% to 32,650 visits and 100,075 page views. Keep in mind that September has a day less than August, so the growth actually works out to over 10%.
September was a month of firsts. It was the first time that our site achieved over 100,000 page views and for the first time Alexa.com ranked us as the number one online media site in Cornwall and area.
Today, we are still number one with an Alexa ranking of 2,075th in Canada. The lower your Alexa number, the better your ranking is. Our site is followed in the top five by CornwallFreeNews.com (2,203), Standard Freeholder (3,521), The Cornwall Daily (6,083) and The Local Seeker (8,640).
September marked the first time a local site had broken the top 2,000 sites in Canada, when we were ranked 1,982nd on September 23rd. You can read the full story here.
We also improved on one of our own internal benchmarks by posting a record 211 stories in the month of September. As a small organization that relies heavily on the assistance of our volunteer contributors and columnists, we are very proud to have offered up an average of over seven stories each day last month. We currently have 17 columnists who provide regular submissions to OH, along with a growing number of readers who submit content under our contributors section.
