Ottawa Citizen endorses NDP Elaine MacDonald in SDSG

Each election, the Ottawa Citizen's editorial board holds a session with all candidates from each of the area ridings. From this meeting, the board throws their endorsement behind one of the candidates and in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry the Citizen is endorsing NDP Candidate Elaine MacDonald.

From this meeting, the board throws their endorsement behind one of the candidates and in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry the Citizen is endorsing NDP Candidate Elaine MacDonald.

"But it's the NDP's Elaine MacDonald (no relation to Mark) who impressed the editorial board most in its meeting. She's a current Cornwall councillor, and a former teacher with valuable on-the-ground experience in the fields of labour and health care. She knows the riding well. She has run for the riding before at the federal level in 2004 and 2006, and this board didn't endorse her either time. But this time around, her wealth of local experience, her commitment to fairness and the thoughtfulness of her proposals made her the clear choice."

He's got a lot to say about making municipal funding more stable - as well as the standard PC critiques of the Liberals' approach to energy and taxes."
"No matter which of the three main parties wins this riding, it seems likely the next MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry will bring first-hand knowledge of municipal issues to Queen's Park, and that's always useful.
