Ontario PC tax relief will help families spend on their own priorities

Removing the HST from hydro and home heating bills, and the Debt Retirement Charge from hydro bills, for savings of $275 for a typical family;

An income sharing plan that will make the tax system more fair for families and put $476 or more back into the pockets of a typical dual-income family.

And lowering income taxes 5% on the first $75,000 of taxable income for middle-class families, giving a typical taxpayer $258 back to spend on their own priorities.

Dalton ‘the Tax Man’ McGuinty broke his promise not to raise taxes after the 2003 and 2007 election and, in order to pay for his own platform, will have to break his promise and increase taxes once again. A two-point increase in the HST alone would cost Ontario families more than $1100 per year and even then would not be enough to pay for all of McGuinty’s promises.

“Under an Ontario PC government taxes will go down. Under Dalton McGuinty taxes will go up yet again. Our plan will lower taxes to give families the confidence to spend again - on their priorities - which will help grow the economy and create jobs,” said Jim McDonell, Ontario PC candidate, Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry
