Today, Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak and Jim McDonell, Ontario PC candidate for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, met with Cornwall area workers, and shared details about the Ontario PC Five-Point Jobs Plan to get Ontario back to work. Under Dalton McGuinty, half a million Ontario workers are unemployed, and 300,000 jobs have been lost in the manufacturing sector alone.
Cornwall - Sep. 20, 2011 - Today, Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak and Jim McDonell, Ontario PC candidate for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, met with Cornwall area workers, and shared details about the Ontario PC Five-Point Jobs Plan to get Ontario back to work.
Under Dalton McGuinty, half a million Ontario workers are unemployed, and 300,000 jobs have been lost in the manufacturing sector alone. While Canada's economy struggled to grow following the global economic crisis, Dalton McGuinty chased away jobs by sending the cost of energy for families and businesses soaring, hiking taxes on business, and doubling the provincial debt with this reckless spending.
A Tim Hudak government will implement a five-point plan to create private sector jobs in Ontario:
Treat energy policy as economic policy - not as a social program.
Train 200,000 more skilled workers by modernizing the apprenticeship system.
Reduce taxes on job creators.
Eliminate job-killing red tape.
Put more money into the hands of consumers through tax and hydro bill relief so families have the confidence to spend again.
“Dalton McGuinty claims we're on the right path. I look at a debt that is doubled, Ontario becoming a have-not province, 500,000 people unable to find a job, higher taxes, and skyrocketing hydro bills, and ask him: what about this looks right?” said Hudak.
“I believe we can create more jobs. I believe we can create better jobs. I believe we can create sustainable jobs. But first - we need to see a change at the top. That’s why I am asking for the support of Ontario families on October 6. Let’s turn our back on the failed taxes, subsidies, and waste of the past, and deliver the new and better jobs that Ontario families deserve.”
