Cornwall - Sep. 9, 2011 - The City of Cornwall will be in the spotlight on Wednesday, September 14 as CTV plans to broadcast for five hours live from the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Cornwall.

Residents are encouraged to come out and watch in person as the crews from CTV Morning Live and CTV News at Six share their stories with hundreds of thousands of viewers across eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

“These broadcasts provide a great opportunity for us to highlight the many positive things that are happening in Cornwall,” said Mayor Bob Kilger. “I would like to invite all residents to stop by the broadcast locations and join in the excitement.”

CTV Morning Live - 6am to 10am
The popular CTV Morning Live program will kick off the day with four hours of live TV from the St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre. The show will feature live on-air interviews with various community leaders and business owners, and hosts Kurt Stoodley, Lianne Lang and the rest of the morning show crew will be on hand. The show airs from 6 am to 10 am. There will be a charity pancake breakfast at the Visitor Centre for the audience.

CTV News at Six - 6pm to 7pm
Later that day, as the Mayor and Council / Team Cornwall Charity Golf Tournament continues at Summerheights Golf Links, CTV News will be busy setting up in Lamoureux Park for its top-rated News at Six program.

The broadcast will be held on the patio at the southwest corner of the Cornwall Civic Complex overlooking Lamoureux Park and the St. Lawrence River. Prior to the 6 pm broadcast, on-air personalities Graham Richardson, Carol Anne Meehan, J.J. Clarke and Terry Marcotte will greet viewers in attendance. M & M Meats will also be hosting a barbecue on site, with the proceeds going to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. As with the morning show, the News at Six broadcast will feature several Cornwall stories.

“We are doing the whole show on location," said Louis Douville, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Ottawa. "Those who come to see our live broadcast will see everything we do in front of and behind the cameras. There is no better way to connect with the people who invite us into their homes each and every night, than to visit their communities in person from time to time."

“We are encouraging residents to show up and let the viewers at home know just how much spirit Cornwall has," said Gilles Latour, Chair of Team Cornwall. "It is a great opportunity to show your hometown pride. Who knows - you might just get on TV!"

Hometown Video Feature
As part of its Hometown Tour, CTV News at Six is asking Cornwall viewers to send in a video about their hometown and what makes it so special. The video should be 30 seconds long, and selected entries may be featured on CTV News at Six. For more info, visit http://ottawa.ctv.ca/tl/HometownTour/.

Cornwall Economic Development and Team Cornwall have been working closely with producers of both shows to help coordinate interviews and show logistics.
