Where is Dalton McGuinty’s platform?

Steve Clark and Jim McDonell pointed out that during his time in office, Dalton McGuinty has introduced the largest income tax hike in Ontario history with the so-called "health tax" and the largest sales tax hike in Ontario history with the HST tax grab. Ontarians go to the polls on October 6th.

Cornwall - Aug. 30, 2011 - Today, Ontario PC MPP Steve Clark (Leeds-Grenville) was in Cornwall to campaign with PC Candidate Jim McDonell. They unveiled Dalton McGuinty’s Wheel of Tax, and invited Ontario families to spin the wheel to find out what the Tax Man’s next tax increase will be.

The two Progressive Conservative candidates suggested that a two-point HST hike, new eco taxes and even a carbon tax cannot be ruled out of the Liberal’s plans.

“Ontario families have been clear: it’s time to stop the Wheel of Tax once and for all,” stated McDonell.

Clark and McDonell pointed out that during his time in office, Dalton McGuinty has introduced the largest income tax hike in Ontario history with the so-called "health tax" and the largest sales tax hike in Ontario history with the HST tax grab.

The Liberals have been repeatedly suggesting that Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Party have a $14 Billion dollar hole in their plan. When asked to respond to that allegation, Clark offered the following:

“Change Book is fully costed. Other than the Liberal’s spin, there is no credible third party that has come forward to say the numbers in Change Book don’t add up.”

The Liberals have been regularly issuing statements that find fault with the NDP and PC Party platforms. However, with only 38 days to go until the election, the McGuinty Liberals have not yet released their own platform. Clark suggested that Ontarians can expect more of the same from McGuinty.

“The Tax Man said he wouldn’t raise your taxes in 2003 and he did. He said he wasn’t going to raise your taxes in 2007 and he did. Now after eight years in office, he is saying I really, really mean it this time - but I think Ontarians are seeing through it,” added Clark.

“Dalton McGuinty has to raise taxes or his budget doesn’t work for the next number of years. They are trying to deflect attention over to our policy which we released, but we are still waiting for their extra promises which they haven’t released yet,” said McDonell.
