Cornwall - Aug. 10, 2011 - Starting tomorrow, OurHometown.ca will be featuring a new regular column called “PULSE of Our Community” written by Jason Setnyk and Todd Bennett, both of whom are very active in our community.

Setnyk and Bennett both sought a Cornwall City Council seat in the last municipal election. While they were unsuccessful in their first foray into politics, they both continue to be very active in our community.

An idea was incubated that would see these two local political guys weigh in regularly on community issues. For the first number of columns they will provide their perception of what they see happening in the provincial election campaign.

They are not going to be a cheerleader for any one particular camp, nor will they be debating each other. In fact, they will not even see the other person’s response before it is posted. Sometimes they may agree and sometimes it may be a friendly wrestling match of words! Setnyk and Bennett will give their perception of what the pulse of our community is on a number of issues.

The format will be very simple. OurHometown.ca will provide Jason and Todd with three questions and they will provide their opinion in 200 words or less on these three questions. If you have a question that you would like our PULSE columnists to consider, send it to us and we may use it.

The first three questions were as follows:

1. Of the three candidates, who do you believe has been the most visible in the campaign to date? Why?

2. In your travels throughout our area, what are you hearing as the top three issues for the upcoming Provincial election?

3. Dalton McGuinty has often been referred to as the "Teflon Man" because controversial issues have seemed not to stick to him. Do you think this continues to be true or will he have difficulty answering for the performance of his government?

We think this will be an interesting column for our readers and we hope you will agree. Check back tomorrow to read the first installment of “PULSE of Our Community”.
