Cornwall Police complete investigation into fatal crash

The Cornwall Community Police Service has completed the investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on June 16, 2011 at the intersection of South Branch Road and McConnell Avenue in the City of Cornwall. The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck was Brock Baker, 25, of St Andrews West.

Cornwall - Jul. 22, 2011 - The Cornwall Community Police Service has completed the investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on June 16, 2011 at the intersection of South Branch Road and McConnell Avenue in the City of Cornwall. The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet Sierra pickup truck, Brock Baker, 25, of St Andrews West, Ontario is charged with Left turn â€" Fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision. The owner of the pickup truck, Timothy Corput, 32, of Bainsville, Ontario is charged with Improper Tires. They are scheduled to appear in court on August 23, 2011 to answer to their respective charges.

A motorcyclist was travelling westbound on South Branch Road and was involved in a collision with a pick-up truck travelling eastbound turning north on to McConnell Avenue. The deceased has been identified as Douglas Randlett, 58, of Cornwall.

Randlett was the 1st Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the executive of Cornwall's Heart of the City and a partner at Shoeless Joe's.
