Cornwall - Jul. 4, 2011 - SDSG NDP candidate Elaine MacDonald has announced her campaign team for the October 6 provincial election. MacDonald announced that former Cornwall Mayor and city councillor and community activist Brian Lynch will be the campaign manager. MacDonald stated: “I am delighted that Brian has accepted to run the campaign. Brian has done a great job in rebuilding the local NDP and with his knowledge and experience is the ideal person to manage the campaign.” Lynch is currently the President of the local provincial and federal NDP riding associations and serves on the Ontario NDP Provincial Council.

MacDonald said that Lynch will be working with a strong team of local NDP activists from all parts of the riding. The campaign’s official agent is David Denneny and the campaign office managers are Ian Wilson and Deborah Jodoin. The door- to- door canvass is co-chaired by former federal NDP candidates Mario Leclerc and Darlene Jalbert. The signs co-chairs are Jack St. Thomas and Bill DeVries; telephone co-chairs, Claudia Peel and Helene Paquin; communications co-chairs, Lori Taylor and Trevor Tolley; and social media chair, Paul Aubin. MacDonald also indicated that as part of the campaign team a youth committee has been formed chaired by Carilyne Hebert and Stephane D. Groulx to organize youth activities in the riding.

MacDonald stated: “The campaign committee has had its first meeting and is working on campaign plans for the next three months. I will have a busy summer visiting and meeting people and attending community events in all parts of the riding.” MacDonald also announced that the local NDP will be holding a BBQ/picnic in Lamoureux Park in Cornwall on Sunday August 7 to which everyone is invited to attend.

MacDonald indicated that she has been receiving many positive comments about her candidacy since her nomination as the NDP candidate on June 15 and the release of the NDP Plan for Affordable Change by NDP leader Andrea Horwath on June 25. MacDonald said: “The NDP plan is all about making life better and more affordable for everyday people, creating and protecting good jobs, and improving healthcare. The NDP Plan for Affordable Change gives voters a choice for real change that puts people first. It also gives Andrea Horwath and the NDP momentum across the province and locally in the weeks leading up to the October 6 provincial election.”
