Cornwall - Jun. 29, 2011 - The advantages of living and working in Cornwall are becoming less and less of a secret, thanks in part to the new edition of the Cornwall Living magazine.
The 2011 edition of the popular magazine features a number of articles about people in and around Cornwall, in addition to highlighting several current business development projects.
“This year we wanted to highlight some of the achievements of the next generation of business and community leaders,” said Rick Shaver, Publisher of the Seaway News, which produces the magazine. “It is a pleasure to see the influx of new ideas and youthful energy as Cornwall and the region continues to grow.”
The cover story of this year’s magazine features a profile of six young business leaders who are all making a difference in their fields and in the community. They include Marc Lapointe (Seaway Hyundai), Josh Eamon (GENIVAR), Natalie Brundige (Lakeshore Massage Therapy), Chris Markell (Robert J. Bourgon Construction), Jamie Fawthrop (City of Cornwall) and Melanie Hamel (Seaway Express). Also featured in the magazine is Vanessa Carter (medical scholarship recipient) and Tony Luis (professional boxer).
“I am very excited about where Cornwall is headed,” says Melanie Hamel, who is in charge of sales and marketing for Seaway Express, an award-winning transportation company taking advantage of Cornwall’s growing logistics sector. “As a new resident of the city, I can say that Cornwall is a great place for young professionals to work and live. I know I made the right decision to come back home.”
Other stories in the magazine showcase the new $34 million Benson Centre, Team Cornwall news, local health care agencies, St. Lawrence College and living in Cornwall and the Townships of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The magazine also has an 8 page photo-essay celebrating life in Cornwall and area, with all photos taken by local photographers such as Jason McNamara, Bobby Lefebvre, Dan Morency and Roxanne Delage, amongst others.
The magazine is expected to be a popular addition to the information packages that Cornwall Economic Development sends out to business and residential investors. In addition to trade shows and other efforts, the City Department will be mailing the magazine to over 3000 individuals, businesses and government officials in Canada, the United States and abroad. The magazine has proven to be popular at Canadian Consulate offices around the world.
“The Cornwall Living magazine is provided to every new resident and commercial investor that contacts our office looking for information on the City,” says Bob Peters, Senior Development Officer with the City of Cornwall. “Last year, together with our mailing list and other events such as trade shows, we distributed over 10,000 copies.”
The Cornwall Living magazine is published by the Seaway News and has an overall circulation of 30,000. This year marks the 18th year that Seaway News has produced the area’s most sought-after magazine. The magazine is a collaboration of advertisers, writers, photographers and staff members.
