Raiders coming from far and wide for CCVS Homecoming

Waves of interest are coming from many parts of the world during the days leading up to the Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School Homecoming. The event is slated for the weekend of July 15 to 17 in Cornwall, Ontario. The school was founded in 1806 by Bishop John Strachan as the Cornwall Grammar School. Bishop Strachan would later found the University of Toronto.

Cornwall - Jun. 28, 2011 - Waves of interest are coming from many parts of the world during the days leading up to the Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School Homecoming. The event is slated for the weekend of July 15 to 17 in Cornwall, Ontario.

Malcolm Hickey, a graduate of 1966 will be attending with his wife from their home in Australia. Paishala Deepan is returning from her home in British Columbia. Arden Murphy, a graduate from 1959, who now lives in Mexico will also be here as part of a trip that will include other parts of Canada. Cornwall Sports Hall Of Fame member Rick Harrington returns from his Florida home.

“How can one possibly miss a homecoming like this being organized by the oldest continually operating high school in Ontario and one of the oldest in Canada?”, says Homecoming Chair Glen Grant.

There are others coming from Toronto, Haydon, the State of Missouri, Alberta, Nova Scotia and other parts of North America and emails and calls continue to arrive from other parts of the world.

One of the major concerns for older graduates is that with each reunion or homecoming they are troubled by the fact that if they miss an event such as this it just might be the last time they'll get to meet old friends they haven't seen for a major part of their lives. Recalling the last couple of reunions were the surprise meetings of teachers and friends you had thought had passed on ages ago.

Experience has shown that some interested former students wait to the last minute to register leaving themselves open to long waits on the first day. Numbers could be high and line-ups long. Registration is only $65.00. Click here to register.

What's on the agenda? Well, as usual there will be the Wine and Cheese. Then there are the year rooms where you get to remember when you were just a teen and struggled to get your homework done on time. And there will be a parade of antique cars. There will also be a barbecue and another time to chat. Homecoming registration also allows you to be part of Cornwall's annual balloon Lift-Off.
