Cornwall - Jun. 24, 2011 - As a result of the ongoing Canada Post labour dispute, the City of Cornwall issues the following notice to residents who are on a monthly pre-authorized payment plan for their property taxes.

Pre-authorized payments are typically processed on the 1st and 15th of each month, however the first processing date in July will be pushed back to July 4 as a result of the Canada Day holiday on July 1.

The property tax payments for the remainder of 2011 have been adjusted based on the new tax rates established by City Council as part of the 2011 City Budget deliberations.

In light of the Canada Post service disruption, it is possible that residents who are on the pre-authorized payment plan for the start of the month will have their payment go through before receiving notification of the changed amount in the mail.

Residents who wish to learn more about the change to their monthly payment amount can contact John Flannigan in the City of Cornwall’s Billing and Collection Office at 613-930-2787 ext. 2315, or by email at jflannigan@cornwall.ca.
