Cornwall - May. 30, 2011 - Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty kept busy on the weekend, in an attempt to neutralize some of the media attention that Tim Hudak would attract. Hudak and the Ontario PC Party held their annual convention in Toronto and released their Changebook platform for the upcoming election.

According to a Liberal media release, “McGuinty presented a positive vision for a strong, confident province that is turning the corner on the recession. His message was in stark contrast to Tim Hudak's dark, angry vision of Ontario.”

The Liberals countered Hudak’s plan with the following:

  • Together, students, parents and teachers have worked hard to raise test scores and raise the graduation rate.

  • Doctors, nurses and other health professionals are treating 1.3 million Ontarians who didn't have access to care before

  • Parents want to see dirty coal plants shut down so their kids can breathe and want the tens of thousands of new clean-energy jobs that are being created right here in Ontario.

  • Our communities are looking ahead and building the infrastructure they need to grow and prosper.

The Liberals argured that the Hudak PCs will take Ontario backwards have no plan to move the province forward.

Former Cornwall city councillor Mark MacDonald, retired St. Lawrence College Director Pat Finucan and Parliament Hill staffer Denis Sabourin have announced their intention to seek the Liberal nomination.

Ontarians go to the polls on Thursday October 6, 2011.
