Cornwall - May. 21, 2011 - The provincial Liberals will host their Nomination Meeting on June 13th at 7:00 pm at the Cornwall Civic Complex as incumbent MPP Jim Brownell has announced he won't be seeking re-election.

Former Cornwall city councillor Mark MacDonald, retired St. Lawrence College Director Pat Finucan and Parliament Hill staffer Denis Sabourin have announced their intention to seek the Liberal nomination.

"I want to be involved in public life," said Finucan. "I enjoy participating in community activities. I see things that need to be done for economic development, for education, for literacy, for our environment and I want to contribute to finding solutions that work."

"I believe in an Ontario that is worth fighting for and I believe that under the present leadership we are moving in the right direction", stated MacDonald. "Our well respected MPP Jim Brownell has a big pair of shoes to fill and the future is bright, the hard work presently being done must continue."

"Much of my career has been in working for the public and I feel it is time now to do more for our region," said Sabourin. "My objective is to provide a strong voice to represent our unique urban and rural regions in order to help them fulfil their economic potential."

South Glengarry Mayor Jim McDonnell has already won the Progressive Conservative nomination. The NDP and Green Party have yet to announce their nomination plans. Ontarians go to the polls on Thursday October 6, 2011.
