Cornwall - May. 4, 2011 - Kinsmen Cornwall-Lift has announced the signature act of its 2011 entertainment line-up! The 15th annual hot-air balloon and entertainment festival, coming to Cornwall's Lamoureux Park July 14-17th, has revealed six headline and support acts.
Headline acts appearing on the Lift-Off stage include multi-platinum American recording artists Collective Soul, Canadian Music Hall of Fame Inductees and Lifetime Achievement Award winners April Wine, and Canadian Rock Icon and three-time Juno Award winner Kim Mitchell - former lead singer and guitarist for Max Webster. Opening acts include Canadian Music and Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame Inductees Platinum Blonde, and New Wave/Pop sensations Ash Koley, with a third act to be announced.
April Wine will kick-off the festival on Thursday July 14th with special guest Platinum Blonde. On Friday July 15th, Collective Soul takes the stage for what Director of Entertainment Rob Seguin says "will surely be one of the most memorable nights in festival history." Special guests include Ash Koley. Then on Saturday July 16th, Canada's "Wild Party" favorite Kim Mitchell closes the concert series with a special guest to be announced.
In addition to their extensive entertainment line-up, Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off will boast the arrival of 25 hot-air balloons, two special shape hot air balloons, an exciting midway and concession zone, Children's Fun Zone, seniors bingo, a spectacular fireworks display, the popular refreshment garden and some of the best local entertainers.
This year, festival bracelets have been slashed to just $15.00 per night or $30.00 for a weekend bracelet - taxes included. Children aged 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult attend free of charge. Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off was founded in 1994 and has since hosted back-to-back Canadian National Hot Air Balloon Championships in 1996 and 1997. The success of the festival has grown considerably from its modest beginnings in 1994. This year, marks only the second time in the history of the festival that an American recording artist has performed on the Lift-Off stage, the first being Dennis DeYoung in 2008, and Collective Soul in 2011. Festival organizers are also thrilled to welcome back April Wine who last performed at Lift-Off in 2007, and Kim Mitchell who rocked the Lift-Off stage once before in 2004.
