Hockey Picks for Kids Contest to support area hospitals

First prize is an overnight stay in one of the Best Western Plus Parkway Inn's newly renovated king suites and a $100 Gift Certificate from Winner’s Sports Bar. This fun, NHL playoff pool type contest that will raise money for Children at the four area hospitals.

Cornwall - Apr. 6, 2011 - OurHometown.ca and the Best Western Plus Parkway Inn and Conference Centre are partnering together to present Hockey Picks for Kids 2011 - a fun, NHL playoff pool type contest that will raise money for children at the four area hospitals.

Participants will be encouraged to make a $20.00 donation* upon entry and they will have a chance to win great prizes courtesy of the Best Western Plus Parkway Inn and Conference Centre. All funds generated will be split equally between the Glengarry Memorial Hospital, Cornwall Community Hospital, Winchester District Memorial Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. These donations will be targeted towards children’s programs at the four hospitals.

Once the 16 NHL Playoff teams have been finalized, the entry form will be available online. Each participant will select one player from each box (No more than 3 players from any NHL team) - so that they have a team consisting of four left wingers, four centres, four right wingers, six defencemen and two goalies. A single point will be awarded for each goal or assist. Goaltenders will receive two points for each win and three points for each shutout.

Each participant will select a team name and team colours. Invitations will be sent to all local politicians, celebrities, business people and the community at large. Stats will be updated daily on OurHometown.ca.

Not only will this contest make watching the NHL Playoffs more fun, participants will have a chance to win some great prizes. First prize is a Overnight Stay in one of the Best Western Plus’ newly renovated king suites and a $100 Gift Certificate from Winner’s Sports Bar. Second prize is a $75.00 Gift Certificate from Winner’s Sports Bar and third place will earn the winner a $50.00 Gift Certificate from Winner’s Sports Bar.
