Ottawa - Mar. 11, 2011 - Guy Lauzon, MP is pleased to highlight the successful passage of another piece of legislation to make our streets and communities safer.

“I am pleased to announce legislation to end sentence discounts for multiple murders has passed Parliament and will soon become law,” said Lauzon, “this law to get tough on crime will make our streets and communities safer.”

Stephen Harper’s Government is committed to making our streets and communities safer by getting tough on crime. In fact, since forming Government, we have passed over 20 laws to get tough on crime and make our streets and communities safer.

“For over 40 years, our criminal justice system focused more on the rights of criminals instead of the rights of victims,” said Lauzon, “we committed to change things and we have delivered.”

This follows the recent passage of legislation to repeal the faint hope clause for murderers and legislation to protect children from online sexual exploitation. Our Government will continue our efforts to pass important legislation to toughen our laws and make our streets and communities safer.
