Political campaigning is all fun and games until someone wins an election. We, competing candidates are all playing our own game while trying to play the public's game. What's the game? Ontario Libertarian candidate Darcy Neal Donnelly explains his view on the issue.

Cornwall - Sep. 24, 2011 - Political campaigning is all fun and games until someone wins an election. We, competing candidates are all playing our own game while trying to play the public's game. What's the game?

The game is to influence people, both privately and in public, to make a decision for themselves that would be to our (candidate's) benefit. Each one of us candidates are asking the voters to “Vote for Me”! Each one of us candidates are asking voters “Help me win your vote”. Each one of us candidates are asking “Help me win other peoples' vote”. Some people believe that votes are for sale.

A sale is an exchange that benefits the parties involved in the transaction. In any deal, we always try to ask “What's in it for me?” but more importantly is “What's in it for you?”. As a Libertarian, I support and promote individual liberty, self-ownership, self-initiative and personal responsibility while engaging in voluntary association and voluntary free trades in a competitive free market environment. If you decide that your vote is for sale; I believe that is your choice. I also believe that it is my choice not to buy it from you. The best deals are when the parties agreed by voluntary consent.

We competing candidates are asking for your “consent” We would prefer your expressed consent by actual votes. Historically, most registered voters don't vote and that is their choice. However, by not voting they are granting implied consent to the winning candidate. On October 6, we competing candidates will finish playing our game and the winner will have the "Consent of the governed".

The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government and the people voluntary agree to accept State Power.

State power is police power, the capacity of a state to regulate behaviours and enforce order within its territory by Government Force. The state is granted coercion power to induce conforming social result of political power within a society by the voluntary consent of the governed.

Voluntariness is a legal and philosophical concept referring to a choice being made of a person's free will, as opposed to being made as the result of coercion or duress. Philosophies such as libertarianism and voluntaryism, as well as many legal systems, hold that a contract must be voluntarily agreed to by a party in order to be binding on that party. The social contract rests on the concept of the voluntary consent of the governed.

As the Libertarian Candidate, I am asking voters to voluntarily consent to our libertarian state power. On October 6, voters who vote, will express their consent. The winner will have the implied consent.
