This time around we went to Wagner Orchards & Estate Winery www.wagnerorchards.com - as friends said it's a great spot if you live in Windsor-Essex area. Apples galore to buy or pick your own, baked goods made on site, wine and meat. Christmas, I know ... I know, but it is around the corner so think of Wagner Orchards for your baked goods, sausage for your stuffing and Iced Apple wine for dessert.
There are many jewels like Wagner's so find the gem in your neck of the woods. Be sure to check the site calendars for events of those listed. Here are a few of my favourite spots in Ontario and Quebec. If you're in London and area visit Great Lakes Farms www.greatlakesfarms.ca in Union for apple picking and fun. Incredible apple pies and goodies you can eat on-site. Martin's Orchard Market in St. Jacobs country at www.martinsapples.com is a year round market with many varieties of apples and goodies. In the Halton Hills/Milton area be sure to visit Chudleigh's www.chudleighs.com as there is plenty for the family to do. Plan on buying lunch there and sitting outside before you pick your apples.
Cornwall area has Cannamore Orchards www.cannamoreorchard.com for apples and pumpkins plus plenty of activities for the kids along with a very spooky wagon ride. And just into Quebec at Notre-Dame-de I'lle Perrot, be sure to visit La Ferme Quinn www.quinnfarm.qc.ca for fun at the farm. Get your apples and other produce at Quinn's so visit their site to review seasonal produce. Home baked goods from their farm and a great spot to get your Christmas tree.
We used to hitch a ride on the wagon out to the field to find our tree and enjoy some hot cider. This is a fall stroll down memory lane for me and I've shared just a few favorites. There are so many great spots so get out there and take a bite.
