Cornwall - Jan. 19, 2012 - A new owner has come to Curves, the women’s gym in Cornwall. Diane Besner, who has been a member of Curves for over seven years, bought the business on Brookdale Avenue in November of 2011. This is the first business Diane has owned. “I bought it because I’d been coming to Curves for 7 or 8 years and I liked the concept. I believe Curves is really good for women’s health.”

Curves is a women-only gym franchise that is located all throughout North America. Curves provides many different support systems, including certified coaches, a smart system that tailors the machines to your fitness level and a motivating community feel. The Curves 30 minute workout is a blend of cardio and strength training that allows you to burn up to 500 calories as long as you put in your optimal effort.

“The major benefit is to have better health. To me it’s all about health. I think strength training is the key to better health. And, now we will have the Curves Complete which is about the way we eat, as well as the work-out,” says Diane. The Curves Complete program is exactly what it sounds like. It is a complete program of diet, exercise and motivation.

With Curves Complete, you get 90 days to lose 20 pounds with the help of a certified Curves Coach at your club. Along with the normal workout, you get weekly personalized diet plans and shopping lists created through the Curves complete website. Rather than go through a program that gives you the ability to control your portions and be aware of what you’re eating. “I don’t like to look a it like a diet. I like to look at it as observing the food you eat and looking at what goes into your body,” Diane says when asked about the diet portion of the program.

Motivation is also a huge part of the Curves Complete program. You receive daily motivational videos from experts to help you stick to the program, as well as the motivation and help from your Curves Coach. “When the program is done, you still get to talk to your Curves Coach and get advice. There’s certainly support even after the 90 days are over.”

“It’s a different kind of environment.” Says Diane, “Our coaches are always there providing help, and people often schedule their work-outs regularly, so there’s usually the same people there, and it builds more of a community feel.”
