London - August 2, 2012 - The P&G Olympic House hosted an event today honouring the 100 journalists who have covered 10 or more Olympic Games over their career. The breakfast reception was an opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication that several members of the media have displayed over a lifetime dedicated to athleticism and sport.

Among the recognized for covering 10 or more games at the London Olympics were Canadians Richard Garneau (RDS), Christie Blatchford (The National Post), Cam Cole (The Vancouver Sun), Allan Maki (The Globe and Mail), Steve Simmons (Sun Media), Brian Williams (CTV), Stephen Brunt (Rogers Sportsnet) and Rosie DiManno (The Toronto Star).

“What a fine opportunity to recognize the talent, hard work and longevity of so many journalists who help bring the Olympic Games to life for the whole world,” said Canadian Olympic Committee president Marcel Aubut. “I feel very proud that so many Canadians were a part of that list and I congratulate them for their dedication to the Olympic Movement.

“This is a fitting recognition of hard work and dedication to their craft and a remarkable indication of the quality of work that these Canadians have put into delivering the Olympic Games to our doorsteps,” said Canadian Olympic Committee Executive Director, Communications Dimitri Soudas. “Congratulations to all the honoured journalists for giving their everything and being part of this occasion.”

The veteran journalists were each award with a Honav limited edition London 2012 torch replica during the breakfast reception, which was hosted by Olympic silver medallist and Canadian Olympic Committee Board Member Charmaine Crooks.
