Provincial Election about putting an end to soaring taxes, energy bills: Clark

Kemptville - Sep. 16, 2011 - At the official opening of his Kemptville campaign office on Thursday, September 15, Leeds-Grenville Ontario PC candidate Steve Clark warned that only a Tim Hudak PC government will protect Ontarians from higher taxes.

“Tonight marks the three-week countdown until Ontario can finally put an end to eight years of Dalton McGuinty’s taxing and spending, which have made us a have not province,” Clark told the crowd gathered at the office, which is located at the intersection of County Roads 44 & 43.
He thanked his supporters for their hard work during the first week of the provincial campaign and urged them to help him continue spreading the message of respect for families and relief for their budgets.

Holding up his wallet, Clark stressed, “This is what this election is all about. Dalton McGuinty wants to keep taking more and more of your hard-earned money out of your wallet - Steve Clark and Tim Hudak want you to keep it.”

He reminded the audience that PC Party’s plan outlined in Changebook will give families a break from rising taxes and energy costs by:

- Taking the HST off of hydro and home heating bills, eliminate the debt retirement charge and unplug those Smart Meter Tax Machines.
- Eliminating Dalton McGuinty’s sneaky eco taxes.
- Allowing income sharing to save dual-income families hundreds of dollars a year.
- Lowering personal taxes by 5 per cent on the first $75,000 of family income.

Clark also spoke of the priorities for North Grenville that he wants to continue working on, including exploring new opportunities at the University of Guelph campus, pushing for expanded hospice services and providing a share of gas tax revenue to the municipality.

“Only a Tim Hudak PC government is committed to sharing that gas tax revenue with every Ontario municipality, giving them the ability to use it on priority issues in their communities,” said Clark.

This afternoon, Clark is in Gananoque to open his campaign office in that community at 95 King Street East.
