Antigonish - September 15, 2012 - Pigskin picks went 4 for 5 in week One, with only the Jet's surprising romp over the Bills standing between perfection and reality. Week Two has a tough schedule for easy picks, but with a deep breath and a hopeful sigh, here I go!
Lock of the Week - Houston vs Jacksonville: Despite surrendering an early lead in Week One, the dominant Houston offense, which rides on the capable legs of Arian Foster took over. Look for more of the same this week, for while Jacksonville QB Blaine Gabbert has looked competent (and thus brilliant by the comparison with the low standards he set last year) he will be facing a pressure based relentless defense that promises to give him fits. The Jaguar defense, by comparison, has been able to generate very little pressure, and Foster, andre Johnson and company shodl be able to eploit this all game long. Houston wins.

Dallas at Seattle - While Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense might possibly be due for a fall back to earth after a great Week One start, the defense will be licking their chops at the prospect of facing a rookie QB in Russell Wilson, who is talented, but has a rag-tag receiving corps that does nothing to inspire fear (unless you are the Seahawk offensive coordinator). Make no mistake, the SeaHawks are a talented team, but the Cowboys are more talented, and that will be clearly on display in Week Two. Cowboys win.
Baltimore vs Philadelphia - The Eagles are a very talented team - one of the best in the league on paper in my opinion, but they looked lost versus lowly Cleveland last week. QB Michael Vick is without question a supremely talented athlete, and he has at his disposal an arsenal that is the envy of most teams in the league with WR's Jeremy MacLin and Desean Jackson amongst the games top deep threats and RB LeSean McCoy one of the leagues most explosive RB's. They will have their hands full in Week 2 however, against the talented and mean Baltimore defense. The Ravens, long a tough defense/spotty offense team, have finally assembled the weapons to open up the offense for strong-armed QB Joe Flacco, with sophomore WR Torry Smith the deep threat, veteran WR Anquan Boldin to make the tough catches over the middle, and do everything RB Ray Rice to soften the defense. In what should be the game of the week, look for the Ravens to prevail!
Oakland vs Miami - Both teams looked awful in Week One, with the Dolphins predictably struggling to move the ball on offense, and the Raiders not having any semblance of a passing game save short passes to star RB Darren McFadden. While QB Carson Palmer hardly looks worth the first round pick Oakland traded to acquire him a year ago, the return of WR Danarious Moore should help spread the field, and open up running room for McFadden, for whom the Dolphins will have no answer. Raiders win!
