Imagine the banks in the US having the stones to tell Congress to "fix this mess." This is the mess the banks caused in the first place, then sat on bail out money causing stress on business and families alike! This debt debate is all out of whack!

RAMBLINGS
During these dog days things are pretty guiet, but I finally got motivated to get some thoughts out.

In the sporting world some idle thoughts - The NFL is back and I can rest easy knowing that Peyton Manning has his $90 million and is ready to go.

Can somebody do something please about those "Hot Dog" football players that celebrate and chirp on a routine play - that they are paid to perform. Strange how these guys always seem to know where the camera is.

How does a caddy become the story when Adam Scott plays so well and wins a World golf Tournament - interesting but a story??

How has sports reporting become almost 100% about the business end? I am a good sports fan, but I don't need endless detail about the business of sport. For instance in hockey, I care less about how many teams are in trouble and frankly if it lead to a reduction in the number of teams - I dont care about that either. Too many reporters with too much space to fill.

This debt debate is all out of whack! Obviously, it needs attention and handling but to bring a country to its knees is nuts. As a main street citizen pray tell what are acceptable levels? Surely the goal is not to be debt-free, but under control. If you can't run a family without carrying debt how could you run a country without an acceptable level of debt.

It gets old hearing people say "Government should be run like a business." This is easy to say but we have to be reminded Government is NOT a business. It should be run with care and concern, but remember business is run to make a profit and government is run to supply services to the public - all the way from protecting our borders to cleaning our streets.

We have to contain our demands for services and stop with "The Government should do something about this!"

Back when I was young and foolish, I used to lean towards a Republic in the hopes we could get a handle on this "One Person" rule we have in our system but after watching that horror show in the US, I now accept that "seperation of power" is another word for anarchy.

Let's have a majority government[hopefully] do its work and if they screw up we vote the bums out and the next Government can clean up the mess. At least things will get done

Keep Smiling
