No valid argument against developing Cornwall
I was still in Vancouver when I first heard about the Cornwall Cotton Mill Loft project in Cornwall and my first reaction was "why". Some of us won’t live to see our waterfront grow up but it will happen. There is no valid argument against it.

Cornwall - Jul. 8, 2011 - RAMBLINGS - Isn’t it heart warming? Gilles Duceppe spends 20 years pushing to break up the country, then leaves with a pension of $140,765 per year. Live well Gilles.

Asbestos? Is it or is it not a hazardous product. In another life, I was involved in insurance claims relating to asbestos and we settled our for many millions. Of course it is lethal - wake up folks!

I read a lot of fuss about how Krista Erickson treated dancer Margie Gillis in an interview, so I went to Google and sure enough Bill O’Reilly would have been proud - check it out.

I was still in Vancouver when I first heard about the Cotton Mill project in Cornwall and my first reaction was "why". Then I reflected on it and realized Yale Town started out as an industrial waste land with all that goes with crime (street people, etc.) Now Yale is a highly developed area in Vancouver with upscale restaurants with patios that were once loading ramps. Some of us won’t live to see our waterfront grow up but it will happen. There is no valid argument against it.

RANTS

I have long been unhappy with politicians, but must confess I am starting to feel sorry for them! It doesn’t matter what the issue or crisis is, the first words out of the mouth of the people are "the Government should do something about this and do it now.”

To be able to react Governments at all levels have to have plans, people and equipment to either prevent crisis or correct it. When you hear them say there are to be cuts, the public better be ready to say WHAT services can I live without? When we start whining about cost the first thing politicians do is start throwing us crumbs to quiet us. WHY? Because it works. If your vote can be had for a savings of maybe $200 a year, than we deserve what we get.

We have to decide on priorities and decide if we are getting value for our taxes. It doesn’t work to have some beancounter run their finger down a spread sheet until they come to a big number and say we can cut this, why and by how much!

In a future piece I will try to list some services we almost take for granted. Keep Smiling!!
