Kitchener Rangers announce contract extensions
Kitchener Rangers General Manager and Head Coach Steve Spott announced Monday that Troy Smith has been promoted to Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach, effective immediately. Smith has signed a two year contract extension, keeping him with the Rangers through the 2014-15 season.

Kitchener - June 17, 2013 - Kitchener Rangers General Manager and Head Coach Steve Spott announced Monday that Troy Smith has been promoted to Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach, effective immediately. Smith has signed a two year contract extension, keeping him with the Rangers through the 2014-15 season.

An alumnus of the Ontario Hockey League, Smith joined the Rangers as an Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development in 2006 and was with the club during the 2007-08 OHL Championship season. He was also the Head Coach of Team Ontario for the 2012 and 2013 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge tournaments.

The Rangers have also extended the contract of Assistant Coach Mike McKenzie through 2014-15. McKenzie joined the Rangers coaching staff in 2012 after retiring from professional hockey.
