The HometownHockey.ca site is home to four fantasy hockey leagues and 72 fantasy teams. In 2016-17, a March Madness tournament was created to provide a quick and fun competition amongst the three existing leagues at that time.

In 2019-20, the HHFL salary league was formed. However, due to the lineup structure in that league being different then the other three leagues, HHFL teams were not included in the March Madness tournament.

While the March Madness tournament continues to this day, the Legacy Fantasy Hockey League (LFHL) was built to provide a venue for all 72 teams to compete amongst each other.

The LFHL is built on a 52 week platform and requires no extra work from the 72 General Managers. For the most part, weeks in the LFHL run from Monday to Wednesday and Thursday to Sunday - utilizing the teams existing submitted roster.

For example, a team's usual Week 1 roster, will be used for Week 1 and Week 2 in the LFHL. A team's usual Week 2 roster, will be used for Week 3 and Week 4 in the LFHL and so on.

There are no trades or drafts in the LFHL, as all rosters are derived from their existing leagues.

The divisions in the LFHL are re-seeded differently in the off-season. Each team is grouped into a cluster of 12 teams based on their franchises legacy. The six clusters are as follows:

• Original 12 Franchises from CFHL

• Original 12 Franchises from RFHL

• Original 12 Franchises from MFHL

• Original 12 Franchises from WFHL

• Top 12 Draft Order Franchises from HHFL

• Bottom 12 Draft Order Franchise from HHFL

From there the teams are seeded from 1-12, based on length of time in the league and then divided into two divisions per cluster. More details on divisional alignment can be found HERE.

SCHEDULE GROUP 1 (CFHL, MFHL, WFHL)
For the teams that dress 11 players each week, the schedule is based loosely off of the NFL Schedule. This group will comprise of eight divisions of six teams. Teams will play two games against each team in their division and one game against every other team in this group.

• 2x5=10 (Divisional Games)

• 1x42=42 (Non-Divisional Games)

• Total of a 52 Game Schedule

SCHEDULE GROUP 2 (HHFL)
For the teams that dress 16 players each week, the schedule is slightly different. This group will comprise of four divisions of six teams. Teams will play three games against each team in their division, two games against every other team in this group and one rival game.

• 3x5=15 (Divisional Games)

• 2x18=36 (Non-Divisional Games)

• 1x1=1 (Rival Game)

• Total of a 52 Game Schedule

FEE STRUCTURE
It is recognized that not all General Managers will be interested in increasing their annual Fantasy Hockey spend. As such, GMs can choose to opt-in with a $20.00 entry, or choose not to opt-in.

Should a GM not Opt-In, the team will still participate in the weekly schedule - but the GM will not be eligible for prize money. Should a GM who didn't Op-In, win money. That money will be shared proportionately with the other winners (format TBD)

The $20.00 Fee will be divided as follows:

• $2.00 to Stanley Cup Champ ($144.00 possible) (10% of Opt-In)

• $10.00 to Division Winners ($60.00 possible) (50% of Division Opt-In)

• $5.00 to Division Runner-Up ($30.00 possible) (25% of Division Opt-In)

• $3.00 to Division 3rd Place ($18.00 possible) (15% of Division Opt-In)
