The current rule about reporting scoring errors was made to cover manual data entry errors. We now use automated files for stats update but those stats are out of our control for editing, making the current rule obsolete and in dire need of updating.
What brought this to the fore was in the CFHL - M Tkachuk had a point taken away by the NHL on a Monday. This was only evident once the stats were updated on Tuesday morning at 9AM. Under the current rule Bulldogs had until 6:30PM to report the error but only noticed it at 9:30PM: passed the deadline to report errors. Instead of tying the week, the Bulldogs lost affecting their standings points.
Under the current rules, the Bulldogss accepted the loss. However, it does make it evident that the rule needs to be edited this summer. This topic is to correct the wording while this issue is fresh in our minds.
Current rule:
It will be each owner responsibility to double check their own scores & any discrepancies must be reported to the statistician prior to 6:30 pm on the Tuesday night. If there is a score dispute, it will the responsibility of the owner filing the dispute to send the Statistician what you deem to be the scores of the 22 players in question (so that it will narrow down where the difference might be).
Proposed wording for new rule:
Scoring irregularities found due to NHL scoring changes noted at a later date will be investigated by the Statistician. All matches will be reviewed for accuracy of the result and Standings could be updated if necessary. A league wide report would be sent to explain the findings and actions taken, if any.
